This Refund Policy explains when and how you can request a refund for purchases made through Vigil AI at vigilaiact.com (the "Service"). We want you to be fully satisfied with your purchase.
1. Overview
Vigil AI offers a digital compliance assessment product — the EU AI Act Assessment Report — as a one-time purchase. Because our product is a digital service delivered immediately upon purchase, specific conditions apply to refund eligibility.
All payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, which handles billing, tax compliance, and refund processing on our behalf.
2. Refund Eligibility
You are eligible for a full refund if:
- Technical failure: The Assessment Report could not be generated or delivered due to a technical error on our end.
- Duplicate purchase: You were accidentally charged more than once for the same report.
- Service not as described: The report delivered materially differs from the description provided on our website at the time of purchase.
- Request within 14 days: You request a refund within 14 days of purchase and have not yet generated or downloaded your Assessment Report.
We evaluate each refund request on a case-by-case basis and aim to resolve all requests fairly and promptly.
3. How to Request a Refund

- Your order reference number or the email address used for purchase

4. Refund Processing
Response time: We will acknowledge your refund request within 2 business days.
Resolution time: Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days of approval.
Refund method: Refunds are issued to the original payment method used for the purchase. Paddle handles the refund transaction on our behalf.
Currency: Refunds are issued in the same currency as the original transaction (EUR).
5. Exceptions
Refunds may not be granted in the following circumstances:
- Report already generated and downloaded: Once you have generated and downloaded your Assessment Report, the digital service has been fully delivered.
- Request after 14 days: Refund requests submitted more than 14 days after purchase, unless the request is based on a technical failure or service not as described.
- Misuse: If there is evidence the service was used in bad faith (e.g., generating the report and then requesting a refund).
6. EU Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).
However, in accordance with Article 16(m) of the Directive, the right of withdrawal may not apply to contracts for the supply of digital content not supplied on a tangible medium if the performance has begun with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal.
By initiating the generation of your Assessment Report, you expressly consent to the immediate performance of the digital service and acknowledge the loss of your right of withdrawal for that specific report.
This does not affect your right to a refund for technical failures, duplicate charges, or services not as described.
